MAJ. GARRET SCHMITZ NAMED NEW F-16 VIPER DEMO TEAM PILOT

Maj. Garret Schmitz is the United States Air Force F-16 Viper Demonstration Team commander and pilot based at Shaw Air Force Base, S.C. As the F-16 Viper Demonstration Team commander, he is responsible for representing Air Combat Command, the United States Air Force, the Defense Department, and the United States of America at more than 20 air shows annually.

AIR FORCE HERITAGE FLIGHT TO PERFORM FLYOVER AT 103RD INDIANAPOLIS 500

The U.S. Air Force is scheduled to kick off the Indianapolis 500 May 26 at approximately 12:25 p.m. with a special Heritage Flight flyover. The formation will consist of an F-16 Viper, A-10 Warthog, P-51 Mustang and a P-40 Warhawk.

MEET THE PILOT: CHARLES ‘TUNA’ HAINLINE

Charles “Tuna” Hainline joined the Air Force after graduating from Oregon State University. After pilot training, he began his flying career in the A-10 and went on to fly the F/A-18 Hornet as an exchange officer with the Navy, the F-4 Phantom II and the F-117 Nighthawk. Hainline retired as a lieutenant colonel in 2006, following a decorated 20-year military career.
