Dan Friedkin was born in San Diego, California, in 1965 and was exposed to aviation and vintage aircraft at an early age. Dan began flying gliders at age fourteen and soon thereafter began flying a variety of tail wheel aircraft and helicopters. At age eighteen, he was rated in the Lockheed Jetstar. At age twenty, he was checked out in the P-51 Mustang, beginning his strong connection to warbirds, which continues to be his focus and passion.

Today, Dan actively flies the T-6, P-51 Mustang, F-86 Sabre, F6F, F8F, F4U-4, Hawker Hurricane and various models of Spitfire. He is founder and chairman of the Air Force Heritage Flight Foundation and one of nine civilian Heritage Flight pilots qualified to fly in formation with U.S. Air Force single-ship demonstration teams. Dan also participates in air shows throughout North America and Europe, flying right wing for the Horsemen P-51 Flight Team, the world’s only P-51 formation aerobatic team. Additionally, Dan enjoys flying in commemorative displays around the world, most recently in the UK with the Eagle Squadron.
