Dan Friedkin
Dan Friedkin was born in San Diego, California, in 1965 and was exposed to aviation and
vintage aircraft at an early age. Dan began flying gliders at age fourteen and soon
thereafter began flying a variety of tail wheel aircraft and helicopters. At age eighteen, he
was rated in the Lockheed Jetstar. At age twenty, he was checked out in the P-51
Mustang, beginning his strong connection to warbirds, which continues to be his focus
and passion.
Today, Dan actively flies the T-6, P-51 Mustang, F-86 Sabre, F6F, F8F, F4U-4, Hawker
Hurricane and various models of Spitfire. He is founder and chairman of the Air Force
Heritage Flight Foundation and one of nine civilian Heritage Flight pilots qualified to fly
in formation with U.S. Air Force single-ship demonstration teams. Dan also participates
in air shows throughout North America and Europe, flying right wing for the Horsemen
P-51 Flight Team, the world’s only P-51 formation aerobatic team. Additionally, Dan enjoys flying in commemorative displays around the world, most recently in the UK with the Eagle Squadron.
Dan Friedkin and his wife Debra have four children and live in Houston, Texas. He is chairman of
The Friedkin Group, a privately held consortium of businesses and investments primarily
in the automotive industry. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Georgetown University
and a master's degree from Rice University.
